Governance

Holy Name of Jesus Catholic School is governed by the Bishop of the Diocese of Owensboro. Our Bishop appoints a Superintendent of Schools and a Pastor for Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.

School Governance:  In May of 2015, Holy Name School adopted a president/principal model of governance. The president/principal model provides for collaborative leadership with the president handling marketing, PR, communications, and physical plant, among other things, while the principal’s role includes the internal functions of the school, including, but not limited to, curriculum and faculty development.

Parish Council: Holy Name of Jesus Parish Council is comprised of parish members elected by the parish. The council meets once a month, typically the first Monday of the month at 6:30 PM in the Parish Conference Room. Reports are given from various ministries including youth, liturgy, adult education, Hispanic, and building and grounds.

School Council: Holy Name of Jesus School Council is comprised of six parish members and one member of another faith community. During meetings, reports are given by the pastor, principal, and faculty representative. Committee reports are also given on finance, policies, marketing, and long term planning. Council meetings are open to our parents and parishioners.

Parent-Teacher Organization: Holy Name’s PTO serves the best interest of our children by working in partnership with our principal and teachers. The PTO has four officers and parents of Holy Name students are members of the organization. The PTO has one major fundraiser each year at the beginning of the school year and typically has three to four meetings each year.

Academic Boosters: Parents of students who are involved with our academic teams are members of our booster club as well as anyone in our school community who wants to support our efforts to fund the necessary budgeted items that are needed by the academic teams. The boosters provide funding for materials, equipment, travel expenses for coaches, fees for tournaments, and the end of the year banquet.

Athletic Boosters: Parents of students who are involved with our athletic teams are members of our booster club as well as anyone in our school community who wants to support our efforts to fund the necessary budgeted items that are needed by the athletic teams. The boosters provide funding for uniforms, travel expenses, referee fees, equipment, maintenance for the gymnasium and the end of the year banquet.
