Faith in Our School

Our Church and our Parish

Our school is blessed to have the support of the members of our church, Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.  The church is located at the corner of Ingram and Second streets.  The cornerstone for our church at that location was laid in 1886 and many generations of families have been involved in our parish and school.  We are profoundly grateful to our parish!

All faiths are welcome

Holy Name School welcomes students from all faith traditions.  Experience shows that the sharing of faith greatly enriches the lives of all of our students and teachers.

School Prayer

Prayer is an essential part of every school day at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic School.  From our in-house broadcasting studio, eighth grade students lead morning prayers at the start of the school day and they close out our school day in prayer prior to dismissal.  By ordering the day with prayer, we have found that the students are mentally and spiritually ready to learn and that their daily work is then dedicated to the Glory of God.

School Masses

Students from Kindergarten through eighth grade attend Mass on a weekly basis.   The Mass is the ancient prayers of Christians and includes a sharing of Bible readings and the offering of the Jesus’ gift of his Body to the Father in the Eucharist.  The students are invited to serve in the roles of ushers, readers, altar servers and cantors.  There are several opportunities for children to learn and contribute their musical gifts for the praise and worship of God.  Each week, the students, staff and parents are engaged by thoughtful preaching and encouraged to live a reflective life in Jesus Christ.  They learn about the Saints and other holy men and women who lived heroic virtuous lives.
