What is the Resource Program?
The resource program consists of two parts: the academic reinforcement program and REACH. Children are selected for both programs based on previous and current teacher recommendations, performance in the classroom, and achievement test scores. This programs give each child the opportunity to work in a small class setting at the pace he or she can best achieve academic success. The resource teacher works closely with the students' teachers to allow for success in the classroom as well as the resource classroom.
The academic reinforcement program allows students to work with the resource teacher during their reading and/or math class period. This program is for students in grades 3-8. Modifications will be made based on the needs of each child; therefore, a M1, M2, or M3 will appear on their report card.
The REACH, Recognizing Every Achievement of Children at Holy Name School, is a program designed to challenge the students with higher level thinking skills. Currently this is for students in grades 3-4, but the goal is to add a grade every year. Students work with the resource teacher in engaging activities that will challenge their minds through hands-on activities as well as small group and individual projects.
